I finished work today and will soon be giving out this blog address to work colleagues and friends, so if you've come here for the first time, I'd just like to say hello and welcome. As you'll see, this blog is still in its early stages and for the last few weeks I have had to neglect it in favour of more urgent tasks.
However, to briefly recap on earlier posts, I am writing this for friends, family and anyone else who is interested to follow our new venture into the Far East. We fly out to Taiwan on 21st August. Between now and then I have a great many things to do, which I will document here in the hope the information may be useful to someone. I will also be charting our progress as we discover the delights of the Beautiful Isle.
To whet your appetite, here are some sights of Taiwan:
This is Chiang Kai Shek's memorial hall and square, and my youngest son leaving it.
And this is Sun Yat Sen park. You can see the Taiwanese are big on large ceremonial squares. And yet at the same time they treat the spaces very informally too. People are free to hold outdoor classes in the area. When we were there there was a hiphop class going on, ghettoblasters and all.
It's difficult to know what else to show you as the last time we were there it rained a lot which stopped me taking many photos of beautiful scenes. However, here is one last one of my family and I at a restaurant with some Taiwanese friends.
